Gold pearl is a golden pearlescent pigment powder made of thin natural mica flakes colored with synthetic colorants. In a clear binder it gives a warm gold shimmer for haloes, ornaments, lettering and decorative details in acrylic, watercolor and oil, and a little of it adds a golden sheen to transparent colors and glazes.

How to use
Wet the powder with a few drops of binder and stir it in with a palette knife: gloss acrylic medium, gum arabic for watercolor, or a clear oil painting medium or varnish. Do not grind or mull it, because grinding breaks the thin platelets and the gold luster fades. Apply it in thin, even layers on a smooth ground and keep it in the upper layers of an oil painting; matte media and opaque colors weaken the effect. Stir the paint from time to time, as mica flakes tend to settle.
About gold pearl
Gold pearl gives a gold-like shine without any metallic gold. The color and luster come from light reflected by many thin, transparent mica flakes lying parallel in the paint film, the same principle that makes pearls and shells shimmer. Mica is a natural sheet silicate that splits into extremely thin flakes and is insoluble in water, acids and bases.
Safety
Breathing mica dust over long periods can damage the lungs: open and pour the fine powder gently to avoid dust clouds. Handle dry pigment with care: avoid breathing the dust and contact with eyes. Wear a dust mask (FFP2/N95) and gloves when working with the powder, work in a well-ventilated area and wipe up spills with a damp cloth. Do not eat, drink or smoke while working; wash your hands afterwards. Keep away from children and pets. For artistic and technical use only — not for cosmetics, food or tattoos.
FAQ
Is Gold pearl real gold?
No. It contains no metallic gold: the golden shine comes from colored mica flakes reflecting light. For true gilding use gold leaf or shell gold.
How should I mix Gold pearl?
Stir it gently into a clear binder with a palette knife or brush. Do not grind it, because grinding breaks the platelets and dulls the luster.
Can I use Gold pearl in cosmetics or soap?
No. It is sold for artistic and technical use only and is not a cosmetic-grade colorant.
